Quick Hits: The Week in TV (w/e 11/7/09)

The Amazing Race. See here.

Dancing With the Stars. See here.

The Big Bang Theory. This slayed me (watch here):
HOWARD: Sheldon knows football?
LEONARD: Apparently.
HOWARD: I mean, Quidditch, sure, but football?
LEONARD: Sheldon, how do you know this stuff?
SHELDON: I grew up in Texas. Football is ubiquitous in Texas. Pro football, college football, high school football, pee wee football. In fact, every form of football except the original: European football. Which Texans believe to be a Commie plot.
LEONARD: Unbelievable.
SHELDON: If you’re interested, I also know all about frying meat that isn’t chicken as if it were chicken.
LEONARD: So you could teach me?
SHELDON: Football, or chicken fried meat?

Also, Sheldon has the Cylon toaster!

Castle. Loved this… Castle: “Death means change.” Kate: “Okay, so she wasn’t hiding from death, she was hiding from change.” Castle (snapping fingers): “She hated Obama!”

CSI: Miami. Booorrrrring. Bring back the Sunglasses of Justice.

Eastwick. I tried to watch this, couldn’t make it all the way through one episode. Snoozer. Off the DVR you go.

So You Think You Can Dance. This was my first time watching, but I had Elle to keep me clued in. I loved the young couple with the little girl who’s, what, 14? (18.) Except that the whole time they were dancing I was afraid her belly button was going to eat the stage. I also loved the hiphop routine with the mechanic bit. Loved. Also loved the couple that did the contemporary dance, where he leapt onto her midsection. That was insanely pretty.

V. Enjoyable pilot, and the bit where Anna said they could only ask questions that make the Vs look good… Well, we all went to the same place with that one. Sad about Wash, though.

Three Rivers. This was my first episode to watch, but I already love Andy, who was in Moonlight. Yes, so you see the reason I’m watching. It all goes back to vampires. Sadly, I forgot to record the next episode. I’m getting my new DVR tomorrow and will set up all of my Sarah-only shows so this doesn’t happen again.

The Middle. Funny episode. Brick continues to elicit feelings of kinship from me.

Modern Family. The bit with the baseball throwing was great, and the ice skating stuff was good. I’m still not in love with this show.

Hank. That was really early for a Thanksgiving episode. But yeah, that’s how cats are when they’re really into something. Just leave them alone.

Bones. Booth loves Brennan sooo much. She needs to realize it and attack him. Also, Angela + Wendell? Wow.

Fringe. The Toner Monster forgot which J.J. Abrams show it’s supposed to be on!

The Office. I’ve been waiting so long for Pam to hit Michael. It was awesome.

Community. “The next person who gives me pity or charity is getting a personal mention in my suicide note.” Also, the girl in love with Troy cracks me up.

30 Rock. The Cisco commercial in the show was actually pretty funny. Also, Jenna: “Beat it, Griz or Dot Com.” So Jenna.

Parks & Recreation. Andy as the shoeshine guy can either be hilarious or get old fast. We’ll see. Old Gus was funny. And, um, Leslie’s boss is crazy.

CSI: NY. Oh come on. “Sploshing” parties. If these things do exist, there’s no way that the parties are full of only pretty, well-sculpted people with flat bellies and smooth thighs. Bull crap. I’m betting these parties are a lot uglier than that. Also, food is involved. Where do I sign up?

Vampire Diaries. Haven’t watched yet. Sorry.

Smallville. I think it’s stupid that they brought Jor-El to Smallville just to kill him off. Also, I don’t like episodes that don’t have Lois in them.

Stargate: Universe. Haha. “Philip Frye.” Eli named himself after the Futurama guy.

2 Snarkbacks to “Quick Hits: The Week in TV (w/e 11/7/09)”

  1. SarahK says:

    Discuss!

  2. Leland says:

I can’t believe that V gave so much of the ultimate plot away in the pilot. During the original series, it took most of the season to learn the true motives of the visitors. The wife and kids never saw the original series, so they are ok. For me, I’m really bored, because the next two episodes were that much more predictable.

I don’t see this V making it as a long term series. About the only thing making it worthwhle is the interesting parallel to Washington politics, and the willingness to portray that parallel as misleading and dangerous.

Snarkback!
