Quick Hits: The Week in TV (w/e 11/14/09)

Ok, this is late, but it’s New Moon week, so I have other things on my mind.

The Amazing Race. See here.

House. I’m glad Chase finally told Cameron. But Cuddy + the PI? Boo.

Big Bang Theory. “Sorry doesn’t make up for the fact that I had to make chicken and rice with this vegan guy. Do you know what vegan chicken and rice is? Rice!”

V. That priest cusses a lot.

Glee. “Just give them a chance to express themselves.” “I’m about to projectile express myself all over your Hushpuppies.” LOL. “I wanna be very clear. I still have the use of my penis.” And the look on her face after he said it. Ha. “Maybe one of these days you’ll find a way to create teaching moments without ruining my life.” LOVE. THIS. SHOW.

The Office. From now on, I will only go by Voodoo Mama JuJu. This entire episode killed. One of their funniest ever.

Bones. Please just tell her how you feel, Booth. It won’t ruin the show, I promise. Unless it does ruin the show, in which case I’ll take it back, stop watching, and throw stuff at the TV.

Community. Loved loved loved the ending. I was expecting that Jeff would step aside and not catch the guy. And then he caught him, and I kept waiting for him to just drop him to prove that people are evil. I love it when sitcoms don’t do what I’m expecting. Loved this episode. This show keeps getting funnier.

CSI trilogy. Meh, I was disappointed in this. I thought Mac, Morpheus, and H would all cross over to the others, but really it was just Morpheus going to all three shows. Not what I wanted.

30 Rock. “Do I look okay?” “That’s exactly how you look.” I cannot wait to use that line on someone.

SYTYCD. I was underwhelmed by the first two performances–fault of the choreography (and routine-long props, wth?), not the dancers. I loved the quickstep with the hula girl, but there was too much hipshaking, not enough quickstep. I didn’t care for the swing number, or whatever that hat routine was supposed to be. LOVED Victor & Janice. Was I overwrought by all the judges asking and then answering their own questions? Yes. I think it’s one of the worst trends in common conversation ever. EVER. Ryan & Ellenore–I loved their routine, but you could definitely tell Ryan doesn’t do hip-hop. He didn’t seem to feel it at all. I was disappointed in the kids this week. I just didn’t feel them in it, and her hips didn’t move like they needed to for the samba. I enjoyed the Afro-jazz routine. I didn’t get to see the results, but I see that Pauline & Peter (quickstep), Karen & Kevin (hustle) and Ellenore & Ryan (hip-hop) had to dance for it. Pauline and Peter both went home.

DWTS. I didn’t get a chance to do my full analysis this week, but I got my wish. Aaron & Karina went home. I think America just isn’t ready for same-sex couples in ballroom dancing. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!

Fringe. “If you remove your headphones, you’ll die a gruesome and horrible death. Thank you for your attention, and have a nice day.” I heart Walter.

Parks & Recreation. Funny. We always try to figure out once we know the premise of the episode how they’re going to manage to dis Jerry. This week’s Jerry Dis was great.

Smallville. Excellent episode! Last season was awesome, and this season’s shaping up to be as awesome. It’s because Lana’s gone. Remember those episodes when Lana was back last season? They sucked for a reason.

Stargate: Universe. I’m still sticking with my theory that every episode of this show will see the space travelers with a limited amount of time to get off a planet and barely making it back.

4 Snarkbacks to “Quick Hits: The Week in TV (w/e 11/14/09)”

  1. tamaita says:

I totally agree about Community! Every single week, I love it just a bit more :) Also, loved The Office - that’s the kind of episode that got me hooked in the first place :)

  2. ericL says:

    Voodoo Mama Juju K.–
The Office — I agree, best episode of the season. Also, Creed’s scene brought tears to my eyes.

Community was great. I loved it when the “gay” basketball team came into the gym during the debate.

    Parks was great.

    Glee is great.

House was once my favorite drama. Not so much anymore.

Also– if you haven’t been watching “Modern Family”, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the weekly round-ups. You remind me which shows I’ve missed so I can watch them online, whenever possible.

  3. Jessica says:

I really need to catch up on House. I have not watched since the 2nd episode this season.

Glee, Parks, Office, Community, and 30 Rock are all amazing.

  4. Leland says:

On to the following week/last week.

House: I knew about Jennifer Morrison leaving, so I expected to see her departure somehow. I didn’t expect the way it was done, and I didn’t agree with House’s understanding of Allison Cameron’s character. I always find that odd, since one would think the writers know a character’s character better than anyone. But if I recall, and DVR helps, Cameron wanted to kill the Darth Vader too, and Chase had to talk her out of it. So it didn’t surprise me when she forgave Chase.

Speaking of Jennifer Morrison, I watched Star Trek last night. It was a good movie except the Spock/Uhura thing didn’t work for me. Not just the previous lack of romantic interest in the series, but also that Uhura’s character always seemed the best answer to the PC police. She was black and female, yet not a servant or sex object. Their was no pretense; it was just what she was. The new Uhura seemed to be an exotic vixen, who courted the most superior person she could find. Alas, this is a blog about TV.

SYTYCD: The music, the choreography, the stage; all of it was so bad this week, that even the dances, where I could see talent, were boring. I agree with the cuts, except that Channing would have been safe if the music was any good. I know, I’m

DWTS: The only thing good I can say about Krupa going, before Donny or Kelly, is I did want to see Donny and Kelly fight it out for a consolation prize.

Glee: I’m three weeks behind now.
