Notes on the top 4 and top 3
Thanks, America, for finally sending Mike home. I love you again. Oh, and thank goodness the judges can’t force him on us again, right? We told you no once, judges. I don’t like the judges’ save.
Um… WHY did Ellen pick a song for Crystal that repeats “maybe I’m a man” over and over? UM. But yeah, she was awesome on it.
Lee on “Hallelujah” was brilliant. It’s hard for me to decide between him and Crystal. He’s come so far this season. I think he might win it. I’ll be happy with either one of them, because they’re the best of Idol this season.
I’m glad Casey was top 3, but he was boring on top 3 night, and once again the Judges’ Sabotage worked to send him home. But he should have gone home. His own choice for the night was a snoozer, and while I do think he’ll have a big career, I don’t think he’s as good as the other 2.
So yay, we actually have a top 2 that makes sense. And yes, I’ll be liveblogging the finale nights, because LOST will be over, and Frank will let me watch Idol.

Our beautiful Casey is gone. It was entirely what I expected. He had some brilliant moments on the show (my favorite of this season of any of them remains “Jealous Guy”) that showcased his true talent - as well as some pretty forgetable stuff. Part of me thinks he “Daughtried” himself to get kicked off early so when he does get on with his music career - no percentage due Idol.
Wasn’t it interesting that he was the only one of the three (humble enough?) to not envision himself as winning? Just grateful for every step he took forward in the contest? I really liked him as a person. He really just seems like a grounded guy with a good heart. (and I LOVED him with the little girl last night…)
Lee bugs me, my husband and son. He started out kinda shy and unsure of himself, which was charming – and then he got the “they adore me and I love being adored and I want to be adored by throngs of people for the rest of my life” FEVAH!!!!! While it is true, he grew musically on the show - we all just kinda find him obnoxious. I don’t admire arrogance. I tend to be brutal that way. He’ll probably win. He probably earned it. But…meh.
I expected Crystal to hit the top two right from the start. Good for her.
Overall this season - it returned to what I love about the show - giving ordinary people, construction workers, paint store clerks, young moms, a shot at developing their talent to a national audience. (rather than shoving stinkin’ SEASONED PROFESSIONALS at us and rigging the show to favor them…ahem….Lambert…).
Lee will win.
